ABOUT ANIDA

International in reach. Locally shaped. Built around community leadership.

ANIDA works with communities and local partners to address connected barriers to education, health and food access, and sustainable income. We begin with community priorities and invest in the leadership, relationships, and systems that help progress continue locally.

WHO WE ARE

ANIDA is a Christian global development organization whose International Office is headquartered in Canada. Since 1997, we have worked with communities and local partners to address connected barriers to education, health and food access, and sustainable income.

ANIDA was founded in the Christian faith, which continues to shape our commitment to service, dignity, integrity, and responsible stewardship. We work with people of every faith and background, without discrimination.

We do not treat communities as passive recipients. ANIDA listens, contributes resources and technical support, strengthens leadership, and works with partners to build the conditions for lasting local ownership.

OUR HISTORY

ANIDA began in 1997 with a commitment to respond to poverty. Since then, we have worked with communities, local leaders, and partners to expand access to education, health, and sustainable income.

Experience has taught us that a program is more likely to continue when people closest to the issues help define the priorities, lead decisions, and strengthen the relationships and systems around the work. That learning now shapes how ANIDA enters, develops, and transitions community partnerships.

OUR MISSION

We are a Christian global development organization that partners with communities to uplift children, women, and families through greater access to education, health, and sustainable incomes, enabling them to flourish and transform their communities.

In practice, this means ANIDA begins with community priorities, connects work across program areas, and invests in the leadership and systems that allow progress to continue locally.

OUR VISION

A community empowered to bring transformation to the nations.

ANIDA understands transformation as a shift in who can lead, decide, adapt, and sustain progress. It is not a single project outcome or something ANIDA can deliver alone.

PROGRAM AREAS

ANIDA’s programs focus on three connected areas. The mix of activities differs by context because communities face different barriers, hold different strengths, and set different priorities.

EDUCATION

Support children, educators, families, and learning environments so more children can enter, continue, and participate meaningfully in education.

SUSTAINABLE INCOME

Support skills, livelihoods, and locally relevant economic opportunities that can strengthen household stability and community capacity.

HEALTH AND FOOD ACCESS

Work with local partners to improve access to essential health support and reliable food, while strengthening the local relationships and systems around delivery.

Leadership development runs through all three program areas. It is how knowledge, responsibility, relationships, and decision-making increasingly move toward local actors.

OUR VALUES

 LEADERSHIP

We lead by serving and build the capacity of others to lead. Responsibility and decision-making should move closer to the people who will carry the work forward.

 INTEGRITY

We act honestly, make decisions transparently, steward resources responsibly, and report progress and setbacks with care.

FAITH

Our Christian faith calls us to serve with humility, compassion, and respect. We welcome and work with people of every faith and background, without discrimination.

 COMMUNITY

We treat communities as partners in analysis, planning, implementation, learning, and ownership, not as passive recipients of a project.

 CULTURAL DIVERSITY

We respect local knowledge, culture, and context. Different perspectives should shape how we listen, decide, and work together.
