How ANIDA handles information when you visit our website, give, sponsor a child, contact us or ask to receive email updates.

Who we are

All Nations International Development Agency (ANIDA) is a registered Canadian charity, registration number 886394162RR0001. In this policy, ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ mean ANIDA.

This policy explains how we handle information through our public website and donor services. If you have a question about a particular program, a child’s profile or your donor record, contact info@anida.org.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the website, we may collect:

  • Your name, email address, phone number and contact or billing address.
  • Gift amounts, giving schedules, sponsorship selections, payment status and transaction references.
  • Account information, communication preferences, consent records and messages you send us.
  • Information you choose to provide through contact or volunteer forms.
  • Technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and website activity, including information used for security and fraud prevention.

Please provide only the information needed for your request. Do not send full payment-card details or sensitive information about a child through an ordinary email or contact form.

How we use information

We use information to process and administer gifts, maintain donor and sponsorship records, manage recurring giving, provide account services, respond to requests, support charitable reporting and receipting, protect the website and understand how it is used.

We also use your preferences to manage the email updates you request. Asking not to be publicly recognized does not make a gift anonymous to ANIDA, its payment processor or other providers needed to administer it.

Payments and recurring gifts

Our website uses WooCommerce to manage giving and Stripe to process online card payments. Card details are entered through Stripe’s secure payment fields. ANIDA receives payment status and the payment references needed to administer a gift; these can include limited details such as a card brand or last four digits.

Recurring gifts are processed according to the amount and schedule you authorize at checkout. Changing newsletter preferences or unsubscribing from email does not cancel a recurring gift. Use the available account controls or contact ANIDA for help with your giving.

Email updates and Constant Contact

ANIDA uses Constant Contact for its email communications and mailing-list preferences. The information used for those communications may include your name, email address, selected interests, relevant donor or member status, and records of your subscription preferences.

Optional newsletters and general updates are separate from the information needed to administer a gift, sponsorship or account. Where we ask you to choose optional updates, that choice is not a condition of making a gift.

You can use the unsubscribe link in an email or contact info@anida.org to change your preferences. We may still need to contact you about a payment, account request or existing giving arrangement. Unsubscribing does not erase records we must retain for financial or other applicable requirements.

Service providers and disclosures

We use service providers to host and maintain the website, process payments, support forms and accounts, deliver email and help protect the site. Providers used by this website include WordPress/WooCommerce, Stripe, Constant Contact and Google reCAPTCHA. They process information relevant to the services they provide.

Information may be processed outside Canada, where different laws may apply. We may also disclose information where necessary to meet a legal requirement, protect someone’s safety, investigate misuse or protect ANIDA’s rights.

Cookies and website activity

The website uses cookies and similar technologies for functions such as login, remembering a giving portfolio, checkout, security and website statistics. Third-party services embedded in the website may also use these technologies.

You can manage cookies through your browser and, where available, a service provider’s controls. Blocking some cookies may prevent account, portfolio or checkout features from working properly. Links to another organization’s website are governed by that organization’s own privacy practices.

Retention and security

We retain information for the purposes described in this policy and to meet applicable financial, charitable, legal and recordkeeping requirements. The period depends on the type of information and why it is held.

We use safeguards appropriate to the information and the services involved, and limit access according to the work people need to perform. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe an account or information has been compromised, contact us promptly.

Children and sponsorship information

The public giving and account features are intended for adults or people acting with appropriate authorization. Our charitable programs also involve children, so a statement that ANIDA never handles children’s information would not accurately describe our work.

Child sponsorship profiles share selected information to help donors understand the program. Do not use a profile to contact a child independently, locate their home or school, or publish additional identifying information. Questions or concerns about a child’s information should go directly to ANIDA so we can review them through the appropriate safeguarding process.

Your choices and requests

You can ask us about the information we hold about you, request a correction, change communication preferences or request deletion, subject to applicable requirements and the records we need to retain. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Contact info@anida.org and describe your request. Please avoid including sensitive information that is not needed to understand it. Any additional rights available to you depend on the laws that apply to your circumstances.

Changes and contact details

We may update this policy as our website, services or information practices change. The date above identifies the latest version. Where a change requires a new choice or notice, we will address that requirement.
