Expanding Access To Fresh Food In Our Community

As part of ANIDA’s food bank program, we’re excited to begin our Community Garden this summer, building on something we’ve seen make a real difference in past years, and continuing to better serve our local community. While food support meets immediate needs, access to fresh and nutritious options isn’t always consistent for many families. It’s a quieter gap, but an important one and it’s part of what this initiative is responding to.

We’ve seen how spaces like this naturally bring people together. They create opportunities for connection, shared learning, and meaningful involvement. From volunteers working side by side to community members learning and participating together, a garden becomes more than just a space to grow food, it becomes a space to grow connection.

That’s part of why this initiative matters so much to us.

At ANIDA, we’ve always tried to hold both things at once: meeting immediate needs while also looking ahead. We believe food security goes beyond distribution. It’s also about creating opportunities for sustainability, dignity, and participation. The Community Garden is one way we continue to live that out. It doesn’t replace food support, but it adds another layer, something that can last longer, reach deeper, and involve people in a more meaningful way.

Right now, we’re in the early stages. Planning is underway, space is being prepared, and the groundwork is coming together step by step. These are small, practical steps, but they matter and they’re what move this from idea to reality.

This is also the part of the process that doesn’t always get seen. It’s early, still forming, and not fully visible yet. But it’s where direction is set and where the work really begins to take shape.

And this is only possible because of you.

Your support allows ANIDA to move beyond immediate response and invest in initiatives that create longer-term impact. It gives us the ability to build spaces that serve the community in a more sustainable way. As things continue to come together, we’ll share more with you along the way. For now, we just wanted to let you know where things stand. Something is taking shape again and you’re part of it.
